The nursing student accused of beating a reality-TV contestant to death with a hammer will spend the next 26 years to life in jail, Los Angeles County prosecutors announced on Monday.
Jackie Jerome Rogers, 35, was sentenced Monday for the grisly 2016 slaying of “Bridalplasty” contestant Lisa Marie Naegle.
The pair were having an affair, and the defense argued Rogers killed the 36-year-old married nurse in the heat of passion after months of being “toyed” with, according to NBC Los Angeles. Prosecutors said the killing was premeditated.
Rogers beat Naegle at least eight times with a hammer as they sat in his car then took her to his home and wacked her two more times to make sure she was dead, prosecutors said. Her naked body was found buried under dirt and manure in his backyard.
Rogers tried to conceal the crime by getting rid of all of Naegle’s belongings and washing the blood and tissue off of his car and the murder weapon.
He was found guilty of first-degree murder on Sept. 24, 2018.
Naegle was a losing contestant on the 2010 E! show, where future brides compete for plastic surgery.
