After half a century many NYC VIPs undergo cosmetic surgery. New York’s cultural grande dame did the same. Her lift was the newly shortened name. The Film Society of Lincoln Center is now just Film at Lincoln Center. In its honor they gave a party — and everybody came.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s black hair showed handsome gray strands . . . Jim Jarmusch wore dark glasses inside . . . Pedro Almodóvar. Gray jacket, white hair, loud pink scarf strangling twice around his neck . . . “Mudbound” director Dee Rees’ gold earrings were larger than an SUV . . . Kiera Chaplin, Charlie’s granddaughter in long pink number and short brown mink, said they’re now doing the Chaplin Award in China.

So bigtime Tilda Swinton on her beginning days: “I had no screen test. Early on, British director Derek Jarman invited me to tea. Then, the whole time I’m sipping and eating cake, he kept filming me. I felt ridiculous. Not what you’d exactly call a screen test, but I did get the movie. ‘Caravaggio.’ ”

As we spoke she also got a handsome gent standing behind picking lint off her black dress.
Rude, crude, sleazy, clever John Waters: “Farrar Straus is publishing my new book ‘Tarnished Wisdom of a Filth Elder.’ ” Then: “I love films. I love being here. I wait on line to see every movie. I was at this place’s very beginning.”

Also probably when Rudolph Valentino tried out.

Michael Moore: “In our country 70 percent are women, people of color and young (18 to 35) adults. Their voices must be heard. Dinosaurs went extinct without cameras. Today our videos put us in charge. 10,000 years from now they’ll be an anthropologist’s way of documenting history.”

Moore, so left that his car won’t even turn right, added: “Five months before Trump’s nomination I predicted he’d win. I also know he’ll win again.”

Producer-director JC Chandor: “A month ago I just finished a big movie I’d been trying to sell. ‘Triple Frontier’ with Ben Affleck. It’s going on Netflix. But I’ll never forget Lincoln Center’s what started me. Maybe 10 years ago. It was ‘Margin Call,’ their opening night film. And it changed my career.”

Superheroes never die

After 22 films can “Avengers: Endgame” really be the end?

Chris Hemsworth: “There’s no superhero fatigue. We left off pretty dramatic in ‘Infinity War.’ ”

Ant-Man Paul Rudd: “Public excitement reminds me of people milling about when The Beatles did Ed Sullivan.” Scarlett Johansson: “An end is impossible.”

“Endgame” ends it all. Except a stand-alone “Black Widow” just went into pre-production. With Scarlett Johansson. So, oy.

Baby on boar-d

True story. Rodeo Drive. A man with a baby carriage causing commotion. Inside? A large, very fat pink pig. No jokes about everyone in Hollywood being a hog.

For Pete’s sake

Pete Buttigieg’s crawling from his crib to enlist NYU law students. Hustling them as volunteers. This legal team’s first NYC meeting, to link young brains to campaign for the infant candidate for president, is May 7.

Thursday, his husband, Chasten, is speaking to NYU undergrads in a private setting right on campus. Closed to everyone over 20. Bootleg’s husband, who he met on an Internet dating app, thinks NYU students are the smartest.

That’s so great. Yale, Princeton, Colgate, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, USC, MIT, etc. must be thrilled. Probably all line up to vote for Kardashian’s kid.

Max: “This healthcare system isn’t always so really great. My friend found a new doctor. After feeling his new patient’s purse the doctor immediately figured there’s nothing he could do.”

Only in Manhattan, New York, kids, only in Manhattan, New York.
